Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system attacks joint tissue, causing inflammation of the joint lining.  The goal for a physical therapist is to keep a Rheumatoid Arthritis patient MOVING.  We use exercise and other methods to stimulate muscle, bones and joints.  The result is more strength, tone and overall fitness.  At Brunswick Physical Therapy we focus on strengthening your core, which will help the joints in your arms and legs become less painful.

In the early stages of Rheumatoid Arthritis, we can check on your strength, fitness and how well your joints work.  We will make an exercise plan to keep your joints as healthy as possible.  If you have moderate or advanced Rheumatoid Arthritis, physical therapy can help you keep or improve you strength and flexibility.  We can also recommend and instruct the use of assistive devices to improve mobility and physical function.
